MALEWO ENGLISH MEDIUM NURSERY/PRIMARY SCHOOL AND INTERNET CAFÉ

Introduction

As an outcome of globalization, and rapid political, economic and social changes happening in Tanzania, it has become very clear to many parents that a good grasp of the English language and computer/Internet literacy from an early stage of their child is a big boost to the child’s further development. English, being the second national language in Tanzania, is here to stay. Advantages of its command and computer literacy are enormous. And yet, Mpwapwa, one of the oldest towns with the oldest secondary school and Teachers’ College, has legged behind in stepping up facilities for young children’s English language and computer learning.

Many parents, individually and in groups, including the group that we meet every Saturday for Bible Study, have insistently and repeatedly expressed the need for an English medium nursery and primary school in Mpwapwa town. Some parents are forced to send their children as far as Dodoma (100 kilometers) and beyond. Many have looked upon us as best placed, after retirement, to help establish this important service to children.
